Detailed Inspections = Minimal Costs

The reason for this detailed inspection is that most of the problems that occur in water heaters come from a lack of maintenance. The majority of these problems start out as small issues that are easy (and cheap) to fix. For example, a thermostat can get stuck and leave your water heater in either the on or off position. In one case you get no hot water, in the other the water is raised to an unsafe temperature. A thermostat stuck in the on position is more than just a scald danger, if you also happen to have a faulty temperature and pressure release, your water heater could expand and eventually explode. If we find a bad thermostat, we suggest replacing it right away. The cost is minimal and the potential savings are far greater than just a few dollars.  We also offer furnace repair in Tempe and plumbing in Tempe.

Your water heater’s most common reason for failure

The most common reason that water heaters have a catastrophic failure is because they rust. Most people don’t realize that there is a built in mechanism for preventing this – the sacrificial anode. This is a rod in the center of the water heater tank that is designed to rust before the interior steel of the tank. As long as the anode is replaced every 4 to 5 years, the water heater tank will not rust. The rod will break down, as it is designed to do, and the tank will simply need to be flushed out and a new rod installed. We check the anode on every service to make sure it is still in working condition. If it needs replacement, we’ll let you know before we do it.

We Specialize in Tankless Water Heater Installation & Repair

Homeowners across Arizona are switching to tankless water heaters, and for good reason. A tankless water heater might cost a bit more up front, but can save you money in the long term. That’s because a tankless heater can last 5-10 years longer than a conventional storage unit, break down less often during its lifespan, and will cost less when not in use, since the tank does not continually cycle.

Contrary to popular belief, a tankless water heater is not the same thing as an on-demand water heater. The hot water won’t  get to your sink, bathtub, shower, or appliance any faster than it did before, because it still has the same distance to travel. What a tankless heater can do, however, is provide a nonstop supply of hot water, for as long as you need it. That means you’ll never run out if multiple guests need to shower, you want to fill an oversize bath tub, or you have to do dishes after a family reunion.

If you’re interested in getting a tankless water heater for your own home, contact the Service Pros today. We’ll be happy to walk you through the cost analysis for your own home and help you decide if a tankless heater is right for you.
